ABOUT

Ila Colombo-portrait-selected-2023.png

Ila is a modern-day polymathic mind – a former athlete, award-winning creative director, AI collaborator, design strategist, and multidisciplinary artist. With over a decade of experience across Design, Art, Architecture, and Technology, her creative practice spans spatial, material, and sonic realms — weaving together generative AI, spatial computing, sound, and advanced fabrication into a seamless language of expression.

Her vision transcends disciplines: from design-art installations and 3D-printed architectural systems to emotionally intelligent works that explore voice, rhythm, and coded aesthetics. Whether through structure, image, or sound, Ila investigates how machine-human collaboration can expand the contours of storytelling, perception, and poetic form.

She’s the co-director of Ross Lovegrove Studio and CEO co-founder of DEOND, a Dubai-based multidisciplinary AI, R&D & 3DPA practice, merging human-centric creativity with advanced computation and digital fabrication. The studio is committed to developing circular, adaptive solutions for both the built and imagined environment.

Ila is a member of the RIBA and sits on the Architecture Program Advisory Board at the American University in Dubai (AUD). She lectures internationally and was a contributor to the landmark ‘AI for Creative Industries’ report by the Dubai Future Foundation and the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Her ongoing research explores the philosophical and practical dimensions of generative AI across multimodal workflows - from architectural systems to sonic compositions - engaging topics such as hybrid intelligence, team training, and ethical frameworks for future creativity.
